Outpost

Outpost - Outpost is a high adventure program that is part of the Tristate Area Council's Summer Camp Program. During the Outpost program, each participating scout is separated from their troop at registration and becomes a part of a new crew-Outpost. This crew remains together from this point until camp closure. Each week of camp a different crew will go on a high adventure trek. Each year the trek is different, we have had adventure is many forms from hiking, backpacking, canoing, kayaking, and caving.

As part of the program, scouts get to know each other on Sunday as they set up a base camp and start some planning for the week. On Monday the scouts learn/review some basic skills for the trip and finalize our duty roster, menu, route planner and more. The real adventure starts Tuesday morning, on this day we get up early and leave camp for our adventure. While gone we function under the patrol method and have a great time. When we return on Thursday night, we spend the remainder of camp having fun and finalizing merit badges and venturing awards.

The trip is a lot of fun and the best part is that the next years program is based on information from the previous years scouts reports. This means the scouts make the program for the next year so they can do the program they want.
